Ground has been broken to Move Our Mission!
On October 31, 2019, a ceremonial ground breaking took place to Move Our Mission and build a replacement homeless shelter in Mahoning County. Since the early 1970s the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley has been located in the former African American YMCA building located at 962 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Youngstown. Today was the first step in an anticipated 12 month building project to relocate to a single story building designed to care for men, women and children experiencing homelessness. The $5.5 million dollar project is being funded by local churches, businesses, foundations, schools, groups and individuals. There is less than $500,000 remaining to be raised of the initial goal to construct the facility. Future fundraisers will be planned for soft costs to furnish the building. We are very excited about this day and give great glory to God for what He has done. Thanks to everyone who has prayed for the new building and contributed!
