Welcome to our new Board President

The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley Board of Directors announced on Saturday, March 3, 2018 the appointment of Mr. Ron Cohen as the newest President of the Board of Directors for Mahoning County’s only Homeless Shelter, Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

Ron was President and COO of a franchise company which specialized in the franchising of Dollar Stores, called Dollar Discount Stores of America, Inc. and he and his family also own and operate an Amish Farmer’s Market. Shortly after moving to Ohio, Ron and Marianne decided to rent a large building and after extensive renovations they subleased to 18 Amish Vendors. Ron has been in the retail environment for all his adult life.

Shortly after moving to Ohio in 2009, Ron toured the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley and as he says he “fell in love with the mission and how Jesus was transforming lives.” Very soon thereafter Ron started volunteering at the Mission.

John Muckridge, President and CEO of the ministry explained “Ron’s love for the Lord, background in business and his care for the clients cared for here at the Mission made him the ideal candidate to fill the role of Board President.”

The Mission is also extremely grateful to Marisa Volpini for her years of service to the ministry as Board President as she steps into the role of Vice President of the Board of Directors.

Ron and his wife Marianne moved from the suburbs of Philadelphia to The Mahoning Valley in 2009. Together they have 5 adult children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
